Being some of the richest, most influential people on the planet, it’s no wonder that Hollywood celebrities take fashion to a whole other level. This is especially apparent when they go to internationally broadcasted events like The Oscars and other prestigious Hollywood award shows. The Red Carpet is their place to show off their expensive (and sometimes fully outrageous) outfits, as all eyes are on them. However, we think that sometimes these A-list celebs take it way too far, even for how famous they are. Here are some of the most ridiculous fashion fails from the Red Carpet.
MAGA Style
Not only is this outfit pretty ugly, but it’s also extremely political and controversial. For the 2019 Grammy Awards, singer Joy Villa decided to show up and make a statement with a dress referring to Trump’s endeavor to “Build the Wall”. The dress was designed to look like bricks, with the slogan on the back, and a barbed wire collar. She also carried a “Make America Great Again” toolbox-looking handbag. The whole thing was a giant mess.
Anatomy Class
We’re all for learning about the human body, but maybe the Red Carpet isn’t the place for an anatomy lesson. Singer Tov Lo made an eccentric outfit choice for the 2016 AAria Music Awards in Australia, with a fully sheer burnt sienna dress featuring an outline of a uterus in the anatomically correct placement. A bold statement for sure, but an ugly outfit choice as well.
Cotton Candy Bowling Pin
Katy Perry is no stranger to odd and eccentric outfits, but her 2019 Grammy Awards Red Carpet choice is certainly up there on the list of most outrageous things she’s worn. The singer walked around all night looking like a bowling pin in a fluffy dress, complete with two mismatched silver earrings and a bleach blonde pixie cut. It was just plain weird.
A White Christmas…Tree
Lady Gaga is yet another famous celebrity who is notorious for wearing the most outrageous outfits to the Red Carpet. The singer/actress turned up to the Brit Awards in 2010 looking like a mix between a 3 layered cake and the bride of Frankenstein. She also kept posing with her arms up…we guess to show off how flowy the “dress” was?
The Burberry Nightmare
On her way to the 2020 Brit Awards, Billie Eilish must have tripped and fallen into a Burberry warehouse. Either that or she received their catalog and couldn’t choose one of the items to wear, so she just put them all on over each other. We love Billie and everything that she stands for, but there’s no denying that this outfit choice was very, very weird.
Two Heads Are Better Than One
Jared Leto is a man of many talents. He is an accomplished actor, with highly successful performances on both TV and in the movies, as well as a musician in his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. However, when it comes to fashion sense, we’re not going to be able to give him the same praise because of the 2019 Met Gala. That insane red dress is weird enough, but carrying a replica of your own severed head all night…that’s crossing the line.
Snake Charmer
Often times, the men of Hollywood don’t wear such outrageous attire on the Red Carpet, as they typically wear a nice (albeit expensive) suit. But Post Malone was not about to let himself fade into the background at the 2018 American Music Awards with this violently teal pants suit. Complete, of course, with giraffe-print snakes and his initials, in case anyone forgot who he was.
Strutting Into Battle
When Kim Kardashian showed up to the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards, she didn’t realize that there would only be an award ceremony taking place, instead of a medieval battle. It was then that she understood that she did not need to come dressed in her chainmail armor, which would only protect her lower half anyway. Luckily she could still pull off the look…sort of.
Orange Loofa
Lizzo is a beautiful plus-sized woman who can pull off almost any outfit and look majestic. Unfortunately, this one was not it. This orange frilly square piece of material is not flattering for any woman’s figure, much less Lizzo’s, and left her looking like a brightly colored bath sponge at the 2019 American Music Awards.
Victorian Doll
Slightly reminiscent of a very creepy old doll you find in the attic that mysteriously moves around by itself, Kate Hudson showed up to the 2018 Screen Actors Guild fully embodying that nightmare. The only thing that takes you out of the horror story is the modern bleach blonde haircut that doesn’t fit in at all with the Annabelle theme.
